Man charged with firearms and drug offences in Orange

A man has been charged with firearms and drug offences in the state’s Central West yesterday, NSW Police say.

Just after 11.30pm today, police attended a home on Bathurst Road, Orange, following reports a man was acting suspiciously.

Officers from Canobolas Local Area Command attended and located a 28–year-old man allegedly armed with a machete outside the home.

The man was disarmed and arrested without incident.

Police searched the home and allegedly located and seized a sawn off rifle, ammunition, and cannabis.

The 28-year-old man was taken to Orange Police Station and charged with possess shortened firearm, possess unregistered firearm, possess ammunition without holding a licence and possess prohibited drug.

He was refused bail to face Orange Local Court today tomorrow.
