A man will face court today on several charges after he allegedly abducted a woman earlier this month, NSW Police say.
Just after 6.30am on Saturday 4 February 2017, police were called to a unit at Jesmond, following reports of an alleged abduction.
Officers attached to Newcastle City Local Area Command have been told a 31-year-old man attended the unit and threatened a 20-year-old woman, forcing her into a Holden Commodore and driving away.
A crime scene was established and police commenced an investigation.
A short time later, the 20-year-old woman was located at a house in Cameron Park.
Following inquiries, police attended a home in Gray Street, Wallsend, and arrested a 31-year-old man.
He was taken to Waratah police station where he was charged with take/detain person with intent to obtain advantage (DV), assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault (DV), common assault, acquire etc firearm, and possess ammunition without holding licence/permit.
The man was refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court today.
