Man charged with multiple break-ins in Burwood

A man will appear in court after being charged with multiple break, enter & steal offences and resisting arresting officers at Auburn.

During December 2018 Burwood Police Area Command Proactive Crime Team commenced investigations into several break-ins occurring in Burwood, Strathfield and Croydon.

During January 2019 Burwood PAC officers responded to a break-in at Croydon where a man armed with a knife confronted them.

The man was able to evade the officers and escaped.

About 4pm on Thursday 17 January 2019 after conducting further inquiries, officers from the Crime Team located and arrested a 22-year-old man in a licensed premises at Auburn.

After being taken to Auburn Police Station, the man was conveyed to Westmead Hospital for assessment.

The officers later conducted a search warrant at a home in Liverpool Road at Burwood Heights, seizing clothing and items alleged to have been stolen.

The man was charged by Burwood Police for break, enter & steal (x 5), use offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention and resist arrest.

Additionally, he was charged with break, enter & steal (x5) by Cumberland Police Area Command and break, enter & steal (x6) by Auburn Police Area Command.

The Chinese National will appear before Parramatta Bail Court today (Sunday 20 January 2019).
