Police have charged a man with multiple alleged sexual and indecent assault offences that occurred in the Central Hunter and Newcastle regions, NSW Police say.
It will be alleged the now 27-year-old man sexually and indecently assaulted two girls – aged 16 and 17 at the time – and three women – aged 18, 19 and 20.
The incidents allegedly occurred between November 2013 and January 2017.
About 3pm, last Saturday (14 January 2017), the man attended Maitland Police Station where he was arrested.
He was charged with 28 offences including 12 counts of sexual intercourse without consent, nine counts of assault with act of indecency, three counts of commit act of indecency with person 16 years or over, three counts of take/detain person with intent to obtain advantage, and one count of common assault.
The man was refused bail to appear at Maitland Local Court on Sunday 15 January 2017 where he was refused bail again to reappear at Newcastle Local Court on Monday 27 February 2017.
Police encourage any person who has been a victim of sexual assault to report the matter for investigation.
