Man charged with murder as search for missing Campsie woman, NSW

A man has been charged with murder as police continue to investigate the disappearance of a woman from Campsie, NSW Police say.

Qi Yu, 28, last made contact with family in China about 7.15pm on Friday 8 June 2018.

She has not been heard from since and officers from Campsie Police Area Command assisted by the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad launched an investigation.

About 8.30pm on Saturday 9 June 2018, police located Qi’s white 2016 Toyota Corolla with NSW registration plates DLK-13P in Lindsay Street, Burwood.

Following inquiries, a 19-year-old man was taken to Campsie Police Station upon his release from hospital yesterday (Tuesday 12 June 2018) and charged with murder. He wasrefused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court today (Wednesday 13 June 2018).

As investigators continue to conduct inquiries to locate her body, anyone with information that may assist is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
