Man charged with murder at Maadi, QLD

Detectives have charged a 25-year-old man with murder following the investigation into the death of a man at Maadi near Tully yesterday evening, Queensland Police say.

It is alleged at about 7pm at a residence on Kelly Road, a physical altercation occurred between two male occupants of the house.

It is further alleged that during the incident, a 25-year-old man punched a 56-year-old man to the head a number of times causing the man to lose consciousness.

Emergency services attended a short time later with the 56-year-old man being pronounced deceased at the scene.

The 25-year-old man is charged with one count of murder and will appear in the Innisfail Magistrates Court on March 28.
