Man Charged With Murder in Merrylands Stabbings

A man has been charged with murder after a person died and two others were left critically injured following an alleged stabbing in Sydney's west yesterday morning.

About 10am yesterday (Tuesday 17 February 2026), emergency services responded to reports of multiple stabbings at businesses on Merrylands Road, Merrylands.

On arrival, officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command were told a man had allegedly stabbed multiple people before leaving the area on foot.

NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and treated three people for serious injuries.

A 38-year-old man died at the scene.

The two others, a 47-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man, were taken to hospital where they remain in critical conditions.

Police established multiple crime scenes and commenced an investigation into the incident.

Following inquiries, a 25-year-old man was arrested on Smythe Street, Merrylands, where a knife was allegedly located and seized nearby.

He was taken to Granville Police Station and charged with murder and two counts of cause wounding/grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder.

The man was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court later today (Wednesday 18 February 2026).
