Man charged with stealing, resist arrest in Gosford

A man has been charged with four offences including stealing and resisting arrest on the Central Coast early this morning, NSW Police say.

About 4.50pm yesterday, police allege a 20-year-old man attended a liquor store in a shopping centre on The Entrance Road, Erina, and left without paying for several items.

When he was leaving, he was approached by a female employee.

He allegedly threatened to assault her, before leaving in a stolen vehicle with another man.

Following inquiries, about 3.30am today, officers from Brisbane Water Local Area Command were patrolling when they located the vehicle on Gertrude Street, Gosford.

Police attended a unit block and spoke to the owner of one of the units, before searching the property.

Officers located a 20-year-old man under a bed and attempted to arrest him when it’s alleged he became aggressive.

He was arrested and taken to Gosford Police Station where he was charged with stealing from retail store, common assault, use and drive conveyance and resist arrest.

The man was refused bail to appear at Wyong Local Court tomorrow.

Inquiries are continuing.
