Man commits act of indecency on bike track in Wollongong

Police are searching for a man after he committed an act of indecency and assaulted a woman on a bike track at Wollongong last night, NSW Police say.

Just before 7.30pm today, two women were walking along the bike track between Marine Drive and Bank Street, when they noticed a man standing in the middle of the track committing an act of indecency.

The women, aged 23 and 20, attempted to run past the man and he grabbed the older female around her mouth pulling her to the ground.

The man ran from the scene and was last seen heading north along the cycle path.

The woman was not injured and police were contacted.

A crime scene was established and police canvassed the area.

The women were unable to provide police with any further description of the man.

Investigations are continuing.
