Man critical after crash, NSW

Police are investigating after a car and push bike collided on the state’s Mid North Coast, NSW Police say.

Just before 5pm today, emergency services were called to Ocean Drive, Lake Cathie, approximately 18km south of Port Macquarie, following reports of a crash between a Toyota Hilux utility and a push bike.

A 52-year-old man, who was riding the bike, was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Port Macquarie Hospital, where he underwent surgery for his injuries.

He was then airlifted to John Hunter Hospital, were it is expected he will undergo a second surgery.

The driver of the vehicle, a 29-year-old man was also treated at the scene for minor injuries. He was taken to Port Macquarie hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

Officers attached to Mid North Coast Local Area Command established a crime scene and have commenced an investigation.

Inquiries are continuing.
