Man critical after house fire, NSW

A man has been critically injured after he was trapped inside a burning house at Seven Hills this morning, NSW Police say.

Two local council workers saw the single-level building well-alight as they drove along Blacktown Road about 6.20am (Wednesday 4 July 2018).

They used their truck to break down a fence to access the yard, but were unable to enter the home due to the intense smoke and heat.

Emergency services arrived minutes later, and Fire & Rescue NSW fire-fighters entered the burning building.

They found a 41-year-old man lying on the floor in a room at the back of the home.

He was carried to safety and treated at the scene before being taken to Concord Hospital in a critical but stable condition, suffering burns and the effects of smoke inhalation.

One of the council workers has been checked as a precaution after suffering shock.

The house has sustained extensive damage and the scene has been secured; it will be examined by Crime Scene officers and Fire Investigators once the location has been deemed safe.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
