Man critically injured after falling from moving vehicle in Unanderra

Police are investigating after a man was critically injured in the Illawarra region yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 4pm (Wednesday 19 December 2018), a 34-year-old woman was driving a white Toyota Tarago west on Five Islands Road, Unanderra, with a 34-year-old man in the passenger seat.

Police have been told the pair were involved in an argument, before the man fell out of the moving vehicle near Glastonberry Avenue.

The woman left the scene and continued south on the Princes Highway.

Members of the public saw the man on the road and stopped to render assistance.

Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District and NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and the man was treated at the scene.

He was airlifted to St George Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition with serious head injuries.

Police attended a home on Northcliffe Drive, Berkeley, and spoke with a 34-year-old woman.

She was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station, however, has since been released pending further inquiries.

Detectives urge anyone who may have witnessed or have dashcam footage of the incident to come forward.
