Man dies after being shot at Fairfield

Police are investigating a fatal shooting in Sydney's west this morning.

Emergency services were called to William Street, Fairfield, after reports of a shooting about 2.40am (Sunday 10 January 2021).

A 34-year-old was found with gunshot wounds; and despite efforts to revive him, he died at the scene.

Officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command have established a crime scene and will investigate the shooting with assistance from the Homicide Squad.

Sections of William Street and Harris Street will be closed, with local diversions in place. Police are advising the community to avoid the area.
