A man has died after being shot in western Sydney this morning.
About 6.40am (Saturday 10 January 2026), emergency services were called to a unit block on Newman Street at Merrylands, after a 44-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound.
Despite efforts by police and paramedics he died at the scene.
Officers from Cumberland Police Area Command have established a crime scene and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident has commenced, with assistance from the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad.
