Man dies after being swept of rocks, NSW

A man has died and another four were swept off rocks in Tathra, 18 kms west of Bega today, NSW Police say.

Emergency services were called to Bay Street, Tathra following reports a number of fishermen had been washed off rocks into the water about 1pm today.

Officers from The Far South Coast Local Area Command with the assistance of Marine Area Command, Surf Life Saving NSW and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter launched a searched for the men.

Four men were rescued from the water and treated by NSW Ambulance Paramedics for minor injuries.

One man, believed to be aged in his 50s, was also rescued and treated by NSW Ambulance Paramedics however, he died at the scene.

The man is yet to be formally identified.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.


Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
