A man has died following a crash in the state's Northern Rivers region
About 11.30pm yesterday (Saturday 10 October 2026), emergency services were called to Wharf Street, Tweed Heads, following reports of a crash.
Officers attached to Tweed-Byron Police District attended and were told a pedestrian had been struck by a car.
The pedestrian – a man believed to be aged in his 70s – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, died at the scene.
He is yet to be formally identified.
The driver – a 29-year-old woman – was not injured and has been taken to Tweed Valley Hospital for mandatory testing.
Police established a crime scene and have commenced an investigation into the cause of the crash.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
