Man Dies After Driver Runs Red Light - Padstow

A driver of a ute has been charged after a man died when he was struck while crossing a road at Padstow overnight.

Emergency services were called to Davies Road at 10.40pm (Saturday 12 July 2025), after an 18-year-old man was critically injured when struck by a ute, which allegedly failed to stop at a red light.

Passing motorists stopped and commenced CPR until the arrival of NSW Ambulance paramedics, however; the man died at the scene.

Officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command established a crime scene and arrested the driver of the ute, a 26-year-old man. He was taken to Bankstown Hospital for mandatory testing before being taken to Bankstown Police Station.

Specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit initiated inquiries and have now charged the driver with four offences,

• Dangerous driving occasioning death – drive manner dangerous

• Negligent driving occasioning death

• Not stop at stop line at red light, and

• Disobey right-turn-only sign.

The man, from Illawong, has been refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court later today (Sunday 13 July 2025).
