Police are preparing a report for the Coroner after a man died after falling onto rocks on Kangaroo Island this afternoon, according to SA Police.
Just before 2pm, a member of the public at Kingscote went to investigate cries for help from the water's edge off Chapman Terrace, when they located a man at the base of a 10 metre cliff among shallow water and rocks.
Police, ambulance and SES crews responded, and with the assistance of a local boat owner, the injured man was rescued and taken to the local Kingscote Hospital.
The man was to be airlifted to Adelaide for treatment, but sadly the 73-year-old man from Kangaroo Island died at the local hospital.
There appear to be no suspicious circumstances.
Kangaroo Island Police will now prepare a report for the Coroner, anyone with information on the incident or sightings of the man earlier today, are asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
