A critical incident investigation is underway after a man died following a pursuit and crash in Zetland overnight.
Just before midnight (Friday 14 November 2025), officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command attempted to stop a motorcycle travelling northbound on Southern Cross Drive, Zetland.
When it failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated.
A short time later, the motorcycle crashed into the rear of a van travelling in front.
The male rider was treated by police before the arrival of NSW Ambulance paramedics, however died at the scene.
A crime scene has been established, with specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit attending to examine the scene.
A critical incident investigation team from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command will now investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The investigation will be subject of an independent review by the Professional Standards Command with oversight by the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission.
