A man has died after a suspected drowning in the state’s north today, NSW Police say.
About 1.15pm today, emergency services were called to Wooli Beach, north of Coffs Harbour, following reports a man was pulled from the water and was unresponsive.
Police have been told two girls were experiencing difficulties in the water when the man attempted to assist them.
Surf Rescue assisted and the children were pulled to safety.
The man, aged in his 60s, was also pulled from the water and CPR was performed; however, he died at the scene.
Police from Coffs/Clarence Local Area Command will prepare a brief for the Coroner.
Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
