Man Dies After Unit Fire - South Coogee

A man has died following a unit fire in Sydney's Eastern Beaches.

About 7.15pm (Thursday 28 May 2026), emergency services were called to Wauhope Crescent, South Coogee, following reports a unit was well alight.

Fire and Rescue NSW attended and extinguished the blaze.

A man inside the unit was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, however he died at the scene.

He is yet to be formally identified.

Officers attached to Eastern Beaches Police Area Command have established a crime scene and detectives have commenced inquiries into the cause of the fire.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
