A man has died after being pulled from the water off Coogee Beach, NSW Police say.
About 7.45pm today, police were waved down by a woman at the northern end of Coogee Beach, who stated that her 70-year-old brother had not been seen since he entered the water at 7pm.
Police commenced a search with assistance from the Ambulance Rescue helicopter.
About 9pm, the helicopter sighted the male floating off the north headland.
He was winched on board and taken to land however he could not be revived.
Officers from Eastern Beaches Local Area Command will prepare a report for the Coroner.
The man is understood to be an Australian resident.
Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
