Man dies following hit-run collision

A man has died in hospital following a hit-run collision in Fawkner last month, Victoria Police say.

Investigators have been told the man was travelling along Sydney Road about 2.15pm on 30 January.

He had stopped to turn right onto Box Forest Road when a vehicle travelling behind failed to slow down, colliding with the rear of his car.

The driver of the second car did not stop at the scene.

The 80-year-old man died yesterday morning in hospital.

No arrests have yet been made and Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating.

Police are searching for two occupants of the second vehicle, who are perceived to be of Middle Eastern appearance with close-cropped beards and aged in their 30s.

They were believed to be driving a black Maserati.

Anyone with information or who witnessed the collision, or anyone who may have seen the vehicle in the area in the lead-up to the incident, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
