Man dies following Illowa collision

A man has died following a two-car collision in Illowa yesterday (10 January), Victoria Police say.

Investigators have been told the man had been travelling along the Princes Highway when he attempted to overtake a row of cars in front of him just after 2.30pm.

His car collided with an oncoming vehicle travelling in the opposite direction.

As a result, the vehicle that was struck overturned, with the male driver, a New Zealand national, and two children taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver and sole occupant of the first car, a 62-year-old Koroit man, was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

He died in hospital this afternoon.

The investigation is ongoing.
