A man has died following a stabbing in Preston earlier this month, Victoria Police say.
Emergency services were called to a care facility on Pleasant View Drive just before 5.30pm on 10 May.
A 57-year-old man was conveyed to hospital with life threatening injuries and subsequently passed away on 28 May.
A 48-year-old man was taken into custody at the time and subsequently charged with assault offences and remanded in custody.
Those charges are expected to be reviewed following the death of the victim.
Both men were in-patients at the care facility.
The matter is being investigated by Whittlesea Crime Investigation Unit with assistance from the Homicide Squad.
