Man dies in fatal crash at Lake Macquarie 20 January

A man has died following a multi-vehicle crash at Lake Macquarie yesterday.

Shortly before midday (Wednesday 19 January 2022), emergency services were called to the M1 Motorway, near George Booth Drive at Killingworth, following reports of a multi-vehicle crash.

It's understood a Honda Legend travelling northbound and a Pantec truck travelling southbound collided.

The Honda driver – a 94-year-old man – died at the scene.

The truck driver – a 33-year-old man – was taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment to a suspected fractured leg. He also underwent mandatory testing.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is underway.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
