Man dies in hospital after Pascoe Vale fire

A 65-year-old man has died in hospital following a house fire in Pascoe Vale yesterday.

Emergency services were called to the Rhodes Parade unit following reports a man had smashed the window of a home about 4.50am.

Police then received reports there was a fire at the residence and that a seriously injured man was receiving medical treatment nearby.

The Chelsea man was taken to hospital where he died last night.

A woman, believed known to the man, escaped without injury.

Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fire and will prepare a report for the Coroner.
