Man dies in suspected hit and run in Sydney CBD

A man has died following a suspected hit and run in Sydney's CBD overnight.

About 1.30am today (Wednesday 12 February 2020), emergency services were called to Central Street in Sydney's CBD, after the body of a 21-year-old man was located.

Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command attended and commenced an investigation, with inquiries suggesting the man had been struck by a truck.

About 4.30am, police stopped a truck on Darlinghurst Road, Kings Cross and arrested the 52-year-old driver.

He was taken to Day Street Police Station where he is assisting police with their inquiries.

A crime scene remains in place at the location and officers from the Crash Investigation Unit will attend to conduct a forensic examination.

As the investigation continues, anyone who witnessed the incident or has dash cam vision is urged to come forward.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
