Man dies when SUV hits tree north-west of Albury

A man has died in a single-vehicle crash in the state's southern region overnight.

About 11.30pm (Thursday 1 October 2020), emergency services were called to Howlong-Balldale Road, Balldale, about 50km north-west of Albury, following reports a Nissan Navara had left the roadway and crashed into a tree.

The 23-year-old driver – and sole occupant in the vehicle – died at the scene.

Officers from Murray River Police District attended and established a crime scene.

Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
