Man Dies When Ute Crashes 170km North Of Broken Hill

A man has died in a single-vehicle crash in the state's Far West overnight.

About 8.40pm (Wednesday 2 July 2025), emergency services were called to Silver City Highway, Packsaddle, about 170km north of Broken Hill, following reports of a crash.

Officers attached to Barrier Police District attended and found a ute had left the roadway and rolled.

The driver – and sole occupant – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, he died at the scene.

He is yet to be formally identified.

Police established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
