Man due in court after Hawks Nest stabbing

A man remains in John Hunter Hospital with wounds to his arm and leg after allegedly being attacked by another man with a knife.

Emergency services were called to Mirreen Street at Hawks Nest shortly after midday yesterday (Saturday 5 October 2019), and found a 37-year-old man had been attacked in his garage.

The man sustained four knife wounds to his left arm and his left leg and was taken to John Hunter Hospital where he is expected to undergo surgery.

A 29-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Maitland Police Station where he's been charged with affray, armed with intent, and wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He's been bail refused to appear at Newcastle Local Court today (Sunday 6 October 2019).

A kitchen knife has been seized and taken for forensic examination.
