Man escapes from correctional facility at Bathurst

Police are appealing for public assistance to locate an inmate who escaped from a correctional facility at Bathurst.

Alan Piper, aged 61, was reported missing from the facility on Mid-Western Highway, Bathurst, about 12pm today (Tuesday 1 June 2021).

Police have been told he was last seen shortly after 11am.

Officers from Chifley Police District are searching the area and conducting inquiries to locate Alan.

He is described as being Caucasian in appearance, approximately 184cm tall, of a medium build, with brown eyes, grey hair and an unshaven grey beard.

Alan was last seen wearing prison greens.

Police are urging anyone with information on the whereabouts of Alan to come forward.

Police are warning members of the public not to approach the man, but to instead call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
