Man expected to be charged after evading police and refusing breath test in Cammeray

A man is expected to be charged after failing to stop for an RBT and attempting to evade police in Sydney’s north, NSW Police say.

About 7.40am today, police were conducting stationary random breath testing on Grafton Street, Cammeray, when a Holden Rodeo allegedly failed to stop at the site when directed.

Police attempted to catch the vehicle and while doing so the vehicle lost control at the intersection of Amherst Street and Warringa Road, colliding with a road barrier, as well as two parked vehicles and coming to rest on a fence.

The male driver fled the scene on foot but was arrested nearby a short time later.

The 44-year-old was taken to North Sydney Police Station where he allegedly refused a breath analysis.

An ambulance attended the police station and conveyed the man to Royal North Sure Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests and treatment to minor injuries.

At hospital, the man allegedly refused any blood or urine samples to be taken.

He remains at hospital and is expected to be issued a court attendance notice for fail to stop for RBT; negligent driving; refuse breath test; refuse breath analysis; and refuse blood sample.
