Transit police are appealing for information following reports a man exposed himself between Clayton and Melbourne Central train station on 25 October last year.
Officers have been told the man was seen in on the train performing a lewd act and exposing himself on board the train on the Pakenham line around 4.20pm.
Several witnesses believe the man may frequent the Dandenong area.
Investigators have releases images of a man they believe can assist with their investigation.
The man is perceived to be Middle Eastern in appearance, 175cm tall with a thin build and dark brown hair.
He was last seen wearing a black FILA zip up jacket, navy blue Adidas tracksuit pants, with white stripes down the side.
