Man exposing himself on train caught in the act by police, NSW

A man will appear in court after he was allegedly caught in the act of exposing himself on a train by officers from Police Transport Command’s Operation Artemis, NSW Police say.

About 5.20pm on Wednesday 29 March 2017, a man allegedly sat next to a 14-year-old girl on a train between Chatswood and Town Hall, and committed an act of indecency while covering himself with a backpack.

The girl got off the train and alerted staff, before an investigation commenced by officers from Police Transport Command’s Operation Artemis.

About 3.30pm yesterday, following investigations, plain-clothes officers from Operation Artemis caught a train from Central to West Ryde.

While on the train officers approached a man who was allegedly exposing himself and committing an act of indecency, whilst sitting next to a 15-year-old girl.

The man was immediately arrested and taken to Ryde Police Station where he was charged with commit act of indecency with child under 16 (x2), and wilful and obscene exposure.

He was granted conditional bail and will appear at Burwood Local Court on Monday 22 May 2017.
