Man facing court after attempted Gateshead service station robbery, NSW

A man will face court today after an attempted robbery at a Gateshead service station yesterda, NSW Police sayy

About 4:55pm (Saturday 26 May 2018), a man entered a service station on the Pacific Highway at Gateshead. It will be alleged he threatened staff with a knife and demanded money.

The employee sought safety in a back room of the building and the man ran from the store.

There were no reports of injuries.

Police from Lake Macquarie Police District began a search for the man He was located at an address in Windale.

He was arrested and taken to Belmont Police Station.

The 20-year-old Gateshead man was charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon and breach of bail.

He was refused bail and will appear in Newcastle Bail Court today (Sunday 27 May 2018).
