Man facing court after fatal crash in Windang

A man has been charged and will reappear in court later this year after a fatal crash that occurred near Wollongong earlier this week. , NSW Police say

Shortly before 12.30pm on Wednesday 14 September 2016, emergency services were called to Windang Road, Windang, after a motor vehicle crash.

Police believe that two vehicles, a silver Holden Commodore and a white Toyota were travelling southbound when they collided.

As a result the Holden struck a stationary heavy vehicle that was parked and unattended on the side of the road, killing the 18-year-old male driver.

The 20-year-old male driver of the Toyota was conveyed to Shellharbour Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

Following inquiries, the 20-year-old Mount Warrigal man was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death. His P2 licence was confiscated and suspended.

The man was refused bail and appeared in Wollongong Local Court yesterday. There, he was granted conditional bail to reappear at that same court on 9 November 2016.

Inquiries are still continuing into the events leading up to the crash.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
