Man Feared Drowned

Northern Territory Police, Fire and Rescue Service and Emergency Service are looking for a man who is feared to have drowned near Seven Mile bridge north of Tennant Creek this afternoon.

A 50-year-old man was reportedly swimming in floodwater when he failed to resurface, around 3.45pm.

Watch Commander Andrew Heath said the Northern Territory is currently experiencing widespread heavy rainfall.

"Incidents like these are a reminder to everyone to avoid flooded waterways.

"Flash flooding creates fast flows and brings significant debris which adds further risk to anyone trying to swim or cross waterways or flooded roads."
