Man flees from police following assault in Darlinghurst

Witnesses are being urged to come forward after a man was assaulted by an unknown man in Darlinghurst last night, who fled the scene by climbing on top of a roof, NSW Police say.

About 11.45pm today, officers from Kings Cross Local Area Command were called to a unit on Farrell Avenue following reports a man was injured.

Initial inquiries have led police to believe a two men and a woman were in an apartment when one of the men assaulted the other a number of times.

The injured man, 33, was knocked unconscious before the offender fled the scene by jumping out on a balcony and scaling the roof of the building.

On arrival, police searched the area, however no one was located.

The injured man was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital suffering facial injuries and a cut to his head.

The woman, 27, was uninjured.

As inquiries continue, police are appealing for witnesses to come forward. The man involved is not further described.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
