Man Hurt, Probe Begins After Shooting, Car Fire in Bankstown

An investigation is underway after a man was injured in a public place shooting in Sydney's west overnight.

About 9.55pm yesterday (Sunday 8 March 2026), emergency services responded to reports of shots fired at a house on Arundle Road, Bass Hill.

A short time later, emergency services were called to Rex Road, Georges Hall, following reports a Holden Commodore was found alight.

Officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command attended the scene and Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the blaze.

A crime scene was established at both locations, and the car was seized for forensic examination.

About 10.10pm (Sunday 8 March 2026), police were called after a 25-year-old man presented to Liverpool Hospital with gunshot wounds.

The man has been treated for wounds to his leg, arm, and chest and is in a serious but stable condition.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incidents is underway with detectives treating them as linked.
