Man in court charged with drug possession - Redfern RES

A man will appear in court today charged with drug possession as part of ongoing investigations by detectives from Redfern Region Enforcement Squad.

In September 2017, detectives from Redfern RES established Strike Force Northrop to investigate and target the ongoing supply of cocaine within the Central Metropolitan Region.

Just after 10pm on Thursday 17 October 2019, officers attempted to stop a man outside licenced premises on Riley Street, Surry Hills.

The 33-year-old man allegedly attempted to flee from police when approached and continued to resist officers when arrested a short distance away.

During the arrest, the man allegedly attempted to dispose of an item.

Officers retrieved the item, a small plastic bag which contained cocaine.

The man was issued with a Field Court Attendance Notice (FCAN) for possess prohibited drug, resist police, and hinder police.

He is due to appear at the Downing Centre Local Court today (Monday 4 November 2019).

Investigations under Strike Force Northrop are continuing.
