Man in critical condition after crash near Salt Ash

A man is in a critical condition following a single-vehicle crash at Port Stephens.

About 4.30am today (Tuesday 19 April 2022), a Nissan Patrol was travelling along Lemon Tree Passage Road, Salt Ash, when the vehicle left the roadway and crashed outside a home.

The 21-year-old male driver – and sole occupant of the vehicle – was trapped before being freed by a passer-by.

The member of the public commenced first aid prior to the arrival of emergency services.

The man was airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition.

Officers attached to Port Stephens-Hunter Police District established a crime scene and have commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
