Man in custody after stabbing in Bankstown

A man has been arrested after a stabbing at Bankstown, NSW Police say.

About 10.35am today, police were called to a cafe in Bankstown City Plaza after reports of a stabbing.

Officers located a 50-year-old man with a stab wound to the chest.

He has been taken to Liverpool Hospital in a serious condition.

A crime scene has been established which will be examined by forensic specialist.

A 35-year-old man was arrested a short time later at an address on Stacey Street, Bankstown.

He has been taken Bankstown Police Station where he is assisting with inquiries.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
