Man in hospital after knife attack - Ultimo

Police are appealing for information after a man was slashed with knife in Ultimo overnight.

Police have been told the incident began when a 24-year-old man became involved in an argument with another man on George Street, near Broadway, about 8pm (Sunday 20 January 2020).

The second man initially walked away but returned minutes later and slashed the leg of the 24-year-old man with a large knife before running from the scene.

NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and took the man to St Vincent's Hospital where he's being treated for a serious knee injury.

Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

Police would like to speak to a man who they believe can assist with their inquiries.

He is described as of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, aged between 25-35, with a muscular build. He was last seen wearing a black coat over a blue shirt, light-coloured shorts, a black cap and grey sneakers.
