A man is in a serious condition in hospital following a house fire in Sydney's eastern suburbs this morning.
About 9.30am today (Tuesday 3 September 2019), emergency services were called to a home on Blake Street, near Napier Street, after reports a home was well alight.
Firefighters attended and extinguished the blaze, however; the upper level of the home sustained extensive damage.
A 90-year-old male occupant was taken to St Vincent's Hospital in a serious condition.
Neighbouring homes were also evacuated.
Officers from Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command attended and remain on scene.
Blake Street and Napier Street are currently closed.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
