Man injured during aggravated break and enter in Belfield

Police are investigating after a man was assaulted during an aggravated break and enter at Belfield this morning, NSW Police say.

About 4:10am tomorrow, emergency services were called to a home on Clarence Street, Belfield, following reports of a break and enter.

Police have been told a man had broken into a house at the location and was confronted by a resident.

The resident was allegedly assaulted by the intruder who ran from the scene.

Police from Campsie Local Area Command attended and a crime scene was established.

A 60-year-old man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for minor injuries before being taken to Canterbury Hospital.

Police now want to speak with a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

He is described as Caucasian in appearance, 25 to 30 years old with a solid build. He was wearing shorts and one white shoe.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
