Man injured during home invasion in Liverpool

A man remains in hospital following a home invasion in Sydney’s south-west yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 6.40pm (Sunday 10 December 2017), two men knocked on the door of a unit on Memorial Avenue, Liverpool.

A 42-year-old male occupant answered the door and was confronted by the men who were asking for his drivers’ licence.

The occupant refused and men became aggressive, pushing past the occupant and gaining entry to the unit.

Inside they assaulted the occupant, punching and kicking him before hitting him with a metal towel rail then fleeing the scene.

He suffered head injuries and was taken to hospital for further treatment; his injuries are not considered life threatening.

Police were called and a crime scene was established at the Memorial Avenue home and a full investigation is underway by detectives from Liverpool Local Area Command.

At this stage police believe no property has been taken from the premises.

Anyone with information that may assist should contact detectives at Liverpool Police Station or call Crime Stoppers.
