A man has been taken to hospital with a gunshot wound following a public place shooting in Sydney's west overnight.
About 9.10pm (Sunday 2 August 2026), emergency services were called to a home on Boronia Street, near Currong Street, South Wentworthville, following reports of a shooting.
Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command attended and were told two males – both wearing balaclavas – had entered the property and shot a resident before leaving the scene.
The resident – a 60-year-old man – was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for a single gunshot wound before being taken to hospital in a stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police have established a crime scene and an investigation into the incident has commenced.
