Man injured in aggravated break-in in Armidale

Police are investigating an aggravated break and enter in Armidale today where a resident was assaulted, NSW Police say.

About 1am today, two men, aged 67 and 48, were at a home on Kentucky Street, Armidale, when the older man awoke to find a male in his bedroom armed with a knife.

He called for help, and the younger man came to assist, at which time he was threatened by the offender.

The man with the knife then slashed at the 48-year-old, causing a small laceration to his neck.

The offender then fled the scene and left the area in an unknown direction.

Police from New England Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

The 48-year-old was conveyed to Armidale Hospital where he was treated for the injury.

The offender has been described as aged in his mid to late 20s, with dark skin, average height and build, with scruffy black hair and a beard. He was wearing dark clothing.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
