Man injured in Prahran shooting

Detectives are investigating after a man was injured during a shooting in Prahran early this morning.

Investigators have been told a man, believed to be aged in his late teens, received a gunshot wound to his hand in Bray Street, near the intersection of Grey Street, about 5.30am.

He was dropped off at a hospital by friends with non-life threatening injuries where he remains in a stable condition.

It's believed the shooter fled in a white Audi SUV which was found dumped a short distance away in Garden Street.

Detectives are investigating to determine whether it was a drive-by shooting or whether the shooting occurred in the street.

It's not known at this stage whether parties are known to each other.

Local units and specialist police attended the scene to assist with the large number of people leaving an event at a nearby nightclub in the vicinity of the incident.

Detectives would like to speak to anyone who saw the Audi in the Chapel Street area prior to the shooting.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, with dash cam footage or with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
